16: “A Report on CSI Formats” For
our last regularly scheduled evening meeting, we bring in
a member of the CSI committee currently working on changes
to CSI’s formats. This report will be of interest to
any firm looking at BIM and some of the other evolving technologies
for drawings and specifications.

16, 2008: “The Exciting New World of Uni-Format”
- Getting Organized for Building Information Modeling (BIM):
Robert Johnson, RA, FCSI, CCS, CCCA and chair of the CSI Uni-Format
Task Team will conduct a presentation on the major revision
and update of Uni-Format to bring it into compliance with
automated information systems such as BIM and the CSI MasterFormat
2004.
Uni-Format is very useful in organizing design and construction
information needed to develop the Preliminary Project Description
(as defined in the CSI Project Resource Manual) and referred
to as the Owner’s Requirements and Basis of Design by
the LEED Rating Systems.
Attendees will receive 1 hour of continuing education credit
from CSI. The program will be held at the Engineers Club of
St. Louis, 4359 Lindell Blvd., on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.
Networking starts at 5:30 PM, snacks at 6:00 PM and the technical
program at 6:30 PM. This program is free to CSI members and

21, 2008: “Everything You Didn’t Know About Air
Barriers” – Preventing Moisture Problems in Buildings:
The Air Barrier Association of America, the Building Enclosure
Council – St. Louis, and the St. Louis Chapter –
Construction Specifications Institute will conduct a Whole
Day continuing education seminar focusing on the proper Planning,
Design, Detailing and Construction of the Building Envelope
to Prevent Moisture Problems in Buildings. Program speakers
include Laverne Dalgleish - Executive Director, Air Barrier
Association of America; Ryan Dalgleish – Director, National
Building Enclosure Council; and Lance Robson – Principal,
Building Envelope Technologies, Inc.
A well designed Building Envelope is a key factor in Sustainable
Building Design, on going Facility Management, and reducing
the risk of Claims and Disputes from resulting from moisture
problems.
Attendees will receive 8 hours of continuing education credit
from the ABAA and CSI. The program will be held at the Engineers
Club of St. Louis, 4359 Lindell Blvd., on Wednesday, May 21,
2008. Doors open at 7:00 AM for on site sign in and a Continental
Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks are included in the seminar cost.
The technical program will begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Seating
is limited to about 90 attendees so sign up early. Cost for
CSI and BEC members is $100, for non members it is $125 for
early registration and payment. On site registration the day
of the seminar is $150 space permitting. For reservations,

June 18: Installation
of Officers and Awards.
Be sure to set aside Wednesday evening June 18 for the annual “Business” Meeting, Installation of Officers, and awards program. This event will be held at the “Pujols 5” restaurant, at Westport Plaza beginning at 6:00 PM. Again, contact Jan Patrick for reservations not later than June 14.
Another change this year: each meeting will have one exclusive
sponsorship. Your $500 contribution to the Chapter gives you
opportunities to network with CSI members and guests during
the social hour prior to the evening meeting,and a fifteen-minute presentation to the meeting attendees
prior to our technical seminar. A tabletop will be made available
to you for your presentation materials and displays. As part
of the sponsorship package, we are including quarterpage ads
in “The Spectator”, for the month prior to, and
the month of the presentation.
